Power Up With This Avocado-Banana Smoothie

You have probably come across that “healthy” avocado-banana smoothie which is laden with extra sugar or pureed with ice cream – both absolutely unnecessary ingredients which consequently compromise the health value of the smoothie. With this recipe, you will learn how to whip up a simple avocado-banana smoothie which is truly healthy, as it omits the “crap” normally added to it “to taste”.

The best part is that it's affordable and easy to prepare, so here’s how to make your own right at home:

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 medium-sized Avocados
  • 4 medium-sized Bananas
  • 250 ml Low-fat Milk (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Scoop the flesh of the avocados into a blender or food processor with a spoon, then blend for 30–40 seconds, or until the avocado smoothes out.
  2. Peel and slice your bananas. Add the slices into the blender or food processor, and blend to another 30–40 seconds, or until the bananas are completely blended with the avocados.
  3. If you don't like your smoothie to be too thick, keep blending until you reach your desired consistency. To make it even lighter, add in the low-fat milk and keep blending until all ingredients are blended perfectly.
  4. Grab a glass, fill it with your healthy smoothie, and enjoy!

EXTRA NOTES

  • The reason for blending the ingredients separately is to make sure they mix well together, and to take less time as the blender doesn't need to be on extra long and work extra hard to mix the contents.
  • Consume smoothie immediately. Smoothies are best drank fresh, so try not to store this smoothie. It probably won't look good if you save it for later.
